New Beginnings

What the President should have said to the people of Egypt.

IN recent days we have seen an emotional response from an array of citizenry, all of who are disappointed if not defeated in their Governments deaf ear. The fierce reaction of these people has sparked a debate among American pundits regarding the acceptability of Egypt’s emerging factions.

Some have said that no matter who may take control after an election the result will be more of the same and that elections are more like a dog and pony show in the Middle East that serve as an appeasement to the US and EU.

Others wonder if this matter should concern the US at all and express concerns that our military presence is the primary spark for all tensions that exist currently in the region.

I say how about we stop fiddling with our own perspectives on the most effective ideology and offer a plan backed up by some valid and current information.

Here’s what we know:

-The Muslim brotherhood is in some way involved with organizing the unrest

-The Mubarak administration is despotic despite their track record with Israel.

-Iran is working on nuclear weapons.

- Russia is helping the Iranians with their nuclear capabilities.

-Pakistan has recently doubled its nuclear capability

-China is using footage of Top Gun dogfights to relate their prowess to the free world.

Here is what should have been said:

I hope that you can figure it out. If you need our advice don’t hesitate to ask. Try the peaceful route first. No throwing things or blowing stuff up. Get a microphone, a podium and a video camera and tell the people your side. If no one listens, it’s not because they are insolent fools, it’s because they didn’t like what you had to say. Deal with it and move on.

If you want freedom then you have to do a couple of things.

-Educate yourselves. Don’t rely on any one mans interpretation of life. Learn all of it and sort out the BS for yourself.

-Educate your children. Killing bad. Freedom good.

-Educate your neighbors. Spread the word.

-Be willing to accept that others don’t agree with you. No fighting.

-Listen to each other.

-Allow one another to fail.

Then you can…:

-Set up a government whose limits are clearly defined. Notice I said “limits”.

-Be willing to change when the time arises.

If you don’t want to call it democracy, fine. Call it whatever you want to call it. Just keep the government out of your homes. Let the government DEFEND you and interpret law not provide for you and your family. Do in your daily lives what you will so long as it doesn’t infringe on another’s civil liberties.

And rest assured that if you decide on some other form of government we will not interfere. But if you bring the crazy again and we have to come back over here we will not be kind about administering accountability.
