Is it just me or has this country gotten more ridiculous over the last few months. Every time I turn around I have to hear some big city liberal tell me that they aren’t interjecting race into a conversation after having interjected race into a conversation. Lets look at this honestly.
I have not yet heard a “conservative” politician mention the deadly “N” word, words like boy, colored, negro, or even black. It seems that though all the years of brow beating, those on the right have finally gotten it. The term is “African American.” But no this isn’t good enough either. Not only do you have to address him properly with regard to his race but you must also agree with everything he says. If both of these guidelines are not met you are indeed considered to be a racist and the words you do not say will be use in the court of public opinion against you. Case in point, Joe Wilson. You may remember his comments during President Obama’s address to congress just a few days ago. If not click below for a brief recap.
Shocking eh?
Some might say that this short clip is not properly put into context, therefore it doesn’t show the reality of the situation of a white man being told what to do by a black man. These are likely the same people who are of the opinion that Rep. Joe Wilson of SC really meant to say “You lie, boy,” and that Bush 43 is responsible weakening the structural integrity of the WTC and organizing radical Islamic fundamentalists in an effort to start a war over a resource that is found in greater abundance within our own borders than almost any other place on the planet. For this reason it is necessary to determine whether or not President Obama was indeed lying.
The quote: “The reforms I'm proposing would not apply to those who are here illegally." –President Barak Hussein Obama
Let’s start with the obvious. The proposal is not his. It is the work of House and Senate Democrats who are unwilling or unable to fathom the idea that people actually would disagree with the President of the United States. He has even been on tape admitting that he doesn’t know what’s in this monster.
Now for that actual bill. HR 3200 is the version of the bill about which Obama was speaking. It is 1017 pages of legalese and political double speak with a grand total of 2541 sections. And yet for all this volume the section that addresses the limitations for eligibility is a mere 4 lines long. To me that seems, at the very least, to be an exercise in poor prioritizing. If you care to read it feel free. However, if you do not wish to read it all you can take my word or the word of several journalists and politicians who agree saying that there are absolutely not provisions in the bill to insure that those accessing the benefits are citizens of the United States.
Beyond this there have been two amendments offered up that address this issue specifically and both have been voted down. Not to mention the fact that the administration has made no effort to refute the accusation.
I would hardly call making an accurate assessment of the speech an overt or subconscious act of racially motivated aggression. Would you? I will grant you that the timing was bad but the words are accurate based upon Obama’s statement.
Have we really made progress or is there still this desperate need for some to cling to a dead philosophy as ammo for a political agenda.
My how the tides have turned.
Peace and Love,
The Papers
